Evening & Weekend Special Needs Carer Wanted – Caring, Reliable & Experienced We are a warm and supportive family seeking a compassionate, responsible, and experienced Special Needs Carer to support our 15-year-old son during evenings and weekends. Our son is a bright and engaging young person with additional needs who requires 1:1 support with daily living tasks, social activities, and general supervision. He has a great sense of humour and a strong personality, and he can sometimes display behaviours that require a calm, confident, and consistent approach. The ideal candidate will be someone who is patient, energetic, and confident working with teenagers with special needs and who won't be thrown by the occasional challenging behaviours. This is a rewarding role where you can make a real difference in a young person's life while becoming part of a supportive and understanding family environment. We are open to both male and female applicants. Role Details: • Location: Rathfarnham, Dublin 14 • Hours: Evenings (after school) and at weekends – hours can be discussed and are somewhat flexible • Duties include: o Supporting with routines (meals, hygiene, etc.) o Engaging in fun, age-appropriate activities o Providing safe and attentive supervision o Regular community outings (cinema, playground, zoo, taking him to activities such as swimming, horse riding etc) What we’re looking for: • Experience working with children or teens with special needs (formal or informal) • A caring and calm personality with emotional resilience to manage any occasional behaviours that challenge • Reliability and good communication • Having a good imagination, enjoying reading books, playing board games, imaginative play, music and dance • Relevant qualifications or training (QQI Level 5/6 preferred but not essential) • Driver’s licence and own transport (car provided during working hours for son's transportation) • Comfortable with pets (dogs) Checks required: • Garda vetted • First Aid (or willingness to obtain) To apply: Please send a brief email outlining your experience and availability to: [removed]
