About Job
We need a carer to go out walking once or twice a week in the afternoon/evening after school with our soon to be 18 year old autistic son. He has communication challenges and a moderate intellectual disability, so some special needs experience would be ideal. He is quite capable, but not street smart, so can't be out on his own. He likes to go out on adventures daily, where he might go to a shop to buy himself a drink or a snack, but mostly he just needs to walk a lot. The walks could be anything from 1 to 2.5 hours at a time, covering a fair bit of distance, so being outdoorsy and fairly physically fit is a must. He likes to have a sense of independence, so someone who is happy to let him lead the way, and provide some gentle guidance where needed for being out in the community would be ideal.
