Helen is looking for a kind and reliable caregiver who would like to live full-time with her in her home in Blackrock. Helen loves her little dog and wishes to remain in her own home for as long as possible. Her niece is very involved and supportive in her care. At present, Helen lives alone and receives daily visits from carers who prepare her lunch and dinner and keep a general eye on her. However, as her mobility decreases, she now needs more support and companionship, particularly in the evenings. Helen is in the later stages of dementia but remains a funny, warm-hearted, and good-humoured person who loves company. She has recently begun to feel a little nervous at night, so evening companionship would be especially valuable. The Role: Evening companionship: Approximately 6 evenings per week, from 7:30 / 8:00 pm until 10:30 / 11:00 pm (flexible for holidays or special events). Light assistance: Helping Helen prepare for bed and undress. Helen sleeps very well and generally rises around 12 noon, when her morning carer arrives to help with dressing, medication, and lunch. Accommodation: A large private bedroom with ensuite and full use of the house. The home is located near a leisure centre with a pool and is well served by buses. Ideal Candidate: Someone kind, patient, and understanding of dementia care. Experience in caring for elderly people is essential. The position could suit: A single person or a couple. Someone working or studying locally who would like to exchange evening support for accommodation. All arrangements and suggestions will be considered.
