Hello ;) I am Giorgia, i am nineteen years old and i am italian. I have just finished high school and i’m looking for new experiences before university. I would like to attend university in Dublin next year, and study medicine, that is why i think the best way to live this “free” year is to improve my english, to know new-routines, to visit places and obviously to start to face the work-life. I love to travel, i have been in Eastbourne (England) for 2 months, where i attended an english intensive course and i lived with a family and a 2 years old kid, that i spent a lot of time with. In Italy, i worked as a babysitter in some families, helping also with homework and light houseworks. I am a really curious person, i love to improve myself and to have goals in life. I can’t stay without doing anything, i am energic and i love to play, go out, at the same time i like to spend time at home, having family-time together, play games. I am patient, caring and empathetic. I can learn quickly, that is why i have no problem to face new situations. I have finished high school this year, in June, i attended a Scientific Course in an high school in my village. I want to go to university, and i would like to move to Dublin to attend it there. My dream is to study medicine, so i am studying for the test that i will do on February. In my village i worked as a babysitter for some families, and now i’m working as an au pair in Dublin, but my shifts permit me to find another job. I worked also as a waitress for not so much time in England, during my time there. In my free time i love to read books, especially romances, watching movies, going out with my friends, take care of my dog. I really love listening to music: classic, pop, rap, everything. I love to visit museums, new cities, talk with people that are different from me, knowing new cultures, history, and also languages. I also like to draw and paint, but it’s not one of my best points ;) i’m not that good in it, just for fun. I also played piano for a while. I like to cook, i love italian food, and i always try to improve myself to learn new dishes, to be more independent as possible. My first language is italian, i always have lived in Italy with my family. I can speak english fluently. I learnt it at school, but i practiced and improved it more during my time in England. I travelled alone, without anyone that i have known, it has been the best experience in my life. Now i have a lot of friends from Palestine, Spain, England, Morocco, Russia, Poland, i talk english with. I am allergic to gluten, i can eat only gluten free food. I am not vegan/vegetarian.
From a young age, I’ve had a deep respect and compassion for the elderly. My grandmother lived with us, and caring for her taught me patience, empathy, and the importance of dignity in later life. I remember staying up with her when she was unwell, listening to her stories, and ensuring she felt valued—not just cared for. What makes me a great elderly carer is my ability to connect. I don’t just assist with physical needs; I engage. Whether it’s sharing a laugh, reminiscing over old photos, or simply holding a hand during difficult moments, I believe emotional care is just as vital. My calm demeanor helps ease anxiety, and my attentiveness ensures safety without sacrificing independence. I’ve also worked in a care home, where I learned the nuances of mobility support, medication management, and dementia care. But beyond skills, it’s the little things—like remembering a resident’s favorite song or how they take their tea—that build trust. Growing old can be lonely; I want to be the person who makes it warmer. My kindness, experience, and genuine love for seniors make me not just a carer, but a companion they can rely on.
